CARB Quest!

We know it can be a challenge finding something to do with your friends and family that is both affordable and fun.  The goal of this blog is to bring people together in order to share their experiences with community events, entertainment and adventures with others. In order to get things rolling, it's time for you to share!

CARB Question:

What event have you enjoyed attending?
Reflecting on the past two months, describe a community event, show, or adventure you have participated in and share it with the rest of us.  What was it called? Where was it? What made it memorable for you?

Thank you for sharing your experiences, and let's get this CARBoose on the tracks!

  1. This is a little more than two months ago, but while I was on sabbatical in New Zealand I was able to attend the Christchurch Memorial Service in Hagley Park. It was memorable to me for several reasons. The first was that while I wasn't there for the earthquakes (or at least the major ones), I was impacted by them in a small way, I did feel dozens - maybe hundreds - of aftershocks, and the people that I knew and cared about there were affected - some in substantial ways. The second reason was it was the first time that I had heard Prince William speak, and I was quite impressed with him and his full swing through New Zealand and Australia after the natural disasters. Finally, I was quite impressed with the complete incorporation of both the European and Maori cultures into all public events in New Zealand, which was exemplified by this memorial service.

  2. Shanda, the Ann Morrison Park Calendar Events of Boise Idaho usually provides a wide array of fun events for family and friends. The last one I attended was on July 4th with family for a day in the park. There was relay races, capture the flag, soccer and crafts coordinated by Boise Parks & Recreation, and live bands showing until the grand finale of fireworks. Admissions was free, many people gathered with their picnic baskets and sun screen to watch live bands and firework displays, play games, and enjoy the great outdoors.
